In 2025, 365 Connect stood alongside ABCCM Crisis Ministry, The Home Depot Foundation, Appalachia Service Project, and Tool Bank Disaster Services as over 300 volunteers came together in Asheville, North Carolina, to build 15 new homes for families still recovering from Hurricane Helene. Volunteers framed the houses on-site before they headed out to lots across Western North Carolina for final construction, with homes ranging from one to three bedrooms to fit the needs of the families receiving them.
In a story highlighted on ABC 13 News in Ashville, you’ll learn that this build was about more than lumber and nails. Volunteers also spruced up the ABCCM Downtown Crisis Ministry itself, with fresh landscaping and paint — a reminder that recovery work strengthens the organizations that serve, not just the families being served. As one Home Depot Foundation representative put it on-site, the past year has been especially difficult for Asheville and the surrounding region, making this partnership a meaningful way to keep serving the community side by side. This day is one piece of a much bigger effort. Appalachia Service Project has already rebuilt 17 homes since Helene, with a goal of reaching 200, and the first homes from this build are expected to be finished in about three months.
